The main tourist attractions of the area is the spawning of the green turtle. When at the beginning of July until the end of october, this impressive and prehistoric animal, after traveling thousands of miles, arrives at the beaches of northern caribbean of Costa Rica to lay their eggs on the sandy gray beaches of Barra del Parismina reaching Barra del Tortuguero.
Another species that arrive between the months of march and june is the leatherback sea turtles.
Trails
Emerald Lodge has about 100 more acres of conserved and reforested, whether by a private reserve. With more than 2 km of route, the trail will take you to learn all sorts of species of fauna and flora, especially for biologists.
In the place we have planted trees native of the area, such as wild almond (favorite fruit of the Great Green Macaw) Caobilla, Aceituno, Cativo, Pilón among others, other non-natives of the area are the Laurel and anonillo.
Different species of insects, spiders and birds typical of the area can be seen in their natural habitat.
These trails have access to the beach, giving the tourist the possibility, if the sea permits given a bath.
On the way to the beach, sometimes you can see white face monkeys, spider monkey and howler monkeys. If you are lucky you may see mammals such as deer, tapir or the pizotes that round on the property.
Boat tours
We also have boat trips to the rivers and creeks adjacent to the Tortuguero National Park where you can see the variety. aquatic birds, crocodiles, sloths, among others.
Likewise complete trips to El Tortuguero, where we will take you to the slopes of the peak and do a hike to the top of the hill and a brief tour in the village. The tour requires all day.
